清末自中日甲午战败之后，清政府开始在全国组练新式陆军，需要大批中下级军官，因此光绪二十五年(1899年)以后，云南相继设立了多所军事学校，其中以云南陆军讲武堂最著名，初办于光绪三十三年(1907年)，宣统元年(1909年)重办，分步、骑、炮、工四科。此时恰逢留日陆军士官学校第六期学生毕业回国，他们或被委步炮军职，或就任讲武堂教官，因这些人中多为同盟会员，于是出现“兵卒学生皆言革命”的情况。

   讲武堂办至1928年结束，招收学员十九期，培养学员近万人。朱德、叶剑英等均毕业于该校。

  Yunnan Army Training School Alumni Roster

   Following China's in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895,the Qing Government began training land force all across China, thus many officers of mid and lower ranks were needed. Several military school were established, of which the Yunnan Army Training School was the most famous. This school was founded in September 1907, offering infantry, cavalry, artillery and engineer training.

   At the time, it was customary for Chinese graduates of the sixth term of the Officer Training School of Japan to return to China and be appointed either as serving officers in the army or lectures at Yunnan Army Training School. Because most were member of the Chinese Revolutionary League, the they mainly revolutionaries. This school, from which Zhu De and Ye Jianying graduated, trained nearly  10.000 students in nineteen terms(1907-1928).
